The design for this custom beer tap handle was based on the chimp character from the Moon Dog Jukebox Hero bottle label design.

In order to create the high level of detail needed for the Jukebox Hero handles 6 different materials were used (sculpting clay, casting/carving wax, wax sheet, steel and wood) to create the initial sculpt. The various materials used were all specifically chosen as they allowed the unique texture and forms to be transferred first to the mould and then onto the final Polyurethane handles through the casting process.

The Jukebox Hero handles were finished with a combination of airbrushed and hand painted details using automotive paints for strength and durability.

The sizeable bulge in the chimp’s pants was a stipulated part of the design brief and not simply me getting carried away!
