The Moon Dog Love Tap tap handle was the first Custom beer tap handle I ever made and therefore it will always have a special place in my heart.

The concept for this handle was the result of a collaborative process between the boys at the brewery and Rain Gidley Studios. The pig is based on the pig from the Love Tap bottle label.  As he is quite a dapper little fellow it was agreed that he would be right at home on the top of a Greek pillar.

The process involved creating an initial 2D design.  That design was then used to create a rough sculpt for the Moon Dog guys to have a look at the proportions in real space to ensure it was the way we had envisaged. Once the initial proportions had been agreed on, the final refined and detailed sculpt (pictured) was and again submitted for approval. The moulds were then created and the initial prototype was painted and readied for final approval. Once the prototype was approved the production run of the tap handles was completed.

Once the initial setup is complete it is possible to create additional editions or runs of the handles.  Since its initial run the Moon Dog Love Tap handle has had several additional releases.

These tap handles are finished with a combination of airbrushed and hand painted details using an automotive paint for strength and durability.
