This antique meat cleaver was converted to a custom beer tap handle for the Prosciutto Bros. Craft beer bar for their house brew – The Chop.

The original antique cleaver was provided by Prosciutto Bros. and converted and customised by Rain Gidley Studios.  First the cleaver handle was removed from the tang (the part of the blade that goes into or through the handle of a knife) and the tang was shortened to allow space for the special fitting which would later allow the handle to be attached to the tap mechanism.  The handle was then reattached to the tang of the cleaver.  A hole was drilled into the bottom of the handle and the fitting was inserted.

The text on the handle was hand painted before being weathered and distressed to match the antique age and feel of the rest of the cleaver.
